Meeting Lina Chern

Partners in Crime is thrilled to welcome to its February 14th meeting Lina Chern, the author of Play the Fool, winner of the 2024 Mary Higgins Clark Award and nominee for the 2024 Lefty and Anthony Awards. She will be speaking about her latest novel, Tricks of Fortune, a sequel to Play the Fool, and how it was inspired by the bizarre true story of Lt. Joseph Gliniewicz, a highly respected Chicago-area police officer whose murder investigation revealed a dark reality at odds with his heroic image. Lina was fortunate enough to observe the investigation from the inside and watched the community's shock and outrage give rise to uncomfortable questions about popular myths about police officers, and what happens when the myths fall short of reality.
